From the Kingdoms of Central Africa to the Global Stage, we bring the spirit of our ancestors to life through rhythm, movement, and tradition.
Connecting cultures, inspiring audiences, and preserving legacy with every step.

WACONGO Dance Company is a distinguished traditional ensemble of master drummers, musicians, and dancers from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, dedicated to preserving and performing the ancestral songs and dances of Central Africa.

Founded in 1998 in Kinshasa, WACONGO was established as a premier Congolese international touring company with a mission to extend the reach of African arts across the globe. Through powerful performances rooted in tradition, the company introduces audiences to the richness, depth, and spiritual essence of Central African culture—fostering intercultural understanding through education and the performing arts.

As an internationally recognized touring collective, WACONGO serves as a cultural home to several renowned Congolese performance groups, including the National Ballet of Congo, Ballet UMOJA, Group Kiti Na Mesa, and Tuta Ngoma. Its members—carefully selected as masters of their craft—embody the highest level of artistic excellence, carrying forward generations of knowledge through movement, rhythm, and storytelling.

WACONGO Dance Company is deeply committed to safeguarding and sharing the cultural heritage of Central Africa, drawing from the traditions of historic kingdoms such as the Kongo, Luba, Lunda, Chokwe, and Ngala. Each performance is more than an artistic presentation—it is a living archive of ancestral memory, identity, and pride.

Through its work, WACONGO continues to stand as a powerful cultural bridge—connecting continents, educating communities, and ensuring that the spirit of African heritage remains vibrant, visible, and alive for generations to come.
